A Brief History of Fluxus Midwest @ Artcite
| As part of our celebrating Artcite's anniversary, we decided to celebrate our own involvement with Artcite over the years. To do this, we took one of our recent performances, interactive displays, and objects--"A brief history of Fluxus Midwest"--and created an interactive wooden display that contains descriptions of 14 different Fluxus Midwest performances and installations at Arcite events from 1987 to 2000. This display was exhibited during the 25 years to life exhibition celebrating Artcite's 25th Anniversary. This display and the elements of this display are shown here below. |

| Display dimensions: 30.5-inches X 15.5-inches X 1.75." Two layers of wood (white pine). Bottom layer of wood 1-inch thick. Top layer of wood .75-inch thick. Title board: printed canvas glued to 30.5 x 4.25-inch board. Seven movable 11.25 x 4.25-inch boards fixed by metal screws and hinges to title board. Top of each movable board covered by printed canvas image of man wearing jeans and a t-shirt (canvas glued to board). Bottom side of each movable board was covered by printed paper displaying information about two of the fourteen events (paper glued to board). Beneath each movable board (once it was lifted up) was an image of the man wearing different sets of underwear--image printed on canvas and glued to wood. Image contained a visual summary of an event. All events presented in chronological order. A cloth rope and eyehooks used to hang display. |
